Hi, I'm Janine Ngarimu Whyte

Known to Whanau as Nga (short for Ngarimu)

Welcome to Janine@NgaDsignz

Due to health issues, I have struggled and been unable to work for over a year and a half

With an idea that I have had for some time, I have created Janine@NgaDsignz to lovingly introduce a selection of my unique original artwork showcasing simple Māori design featuring the Koru. A popular symbol that represents New Beginnings, Growth, Strength and Peace

The koru resonates with me, and my current situation

All of my artworks feature the koru, which is signature in my artwork, giving an original point of difference in the products that I offer

Some pieces, I have had fun blending my art with digital tools - enhancing my artwork with funky colours, rich depth, and seeing my art take on a wairua of it's own

I am proud to offer a range of quality art prints, and have also printed the artworks onto gift cards which can be used for all occasions.

I am grateful to be able to work from home.

I love creating art. I create from the heart. I'm inspired by Koru

"Art makes the world a beautiful place" Let me bring that beauty straight to your door, to beautify your home, and share a special card with your Whānau and Friends.

Covid has marked a time in my life when I was facing breast cancer, having surgery, and then treatment in Auckland.

I remember travelling through the border during that time (a big shout out to our Te Tai Tokerau Border Control Kaimahi, doing the hard yards during Covid - keeping us safe). It was like being in another country - having to show my treatment papers to police to pass through to Auckland - who were in lockdown level 4. Travelling over the harbour bridge and being one of only a handful of cars at peak hour was eerie.

I look back, and I am grateful for having had my routine mammogram that picked up my breast cancer at such an early stage that with surgery and treatment, I can say that I am cancer free.

But I also think about how illness has put me on my artistic pathway.

I urge you to follow your heart, and be true to your own path to happiness.

And most importantly, keep on top of your health. Go and have your routine screenings done. Please!!!! Whether it is your two yearly mammogram, or your 3 yearly cervical smear, your prostate check, a healthy heart check, a yearly blood test, a diabetes test, or a blood pressure check. Get a health check if something is not right. And don't wait until something goes wrong to make healthy choices, make it part of your daily, now.

Kia Kaha, Kia Māia, Kia Manawanui (Be strong, be brave, be steadfast)
